The International Basketball Federation denies women the right to wear head coverings more than 5 centimeters wide. This includes hijabs, turbans, and yarmulkes. Some reasons sited are the possibility of overheating and headscarves can slip obstructing vision. The FIFA lifted its ban of head coverings for soccer in 2014. Women of the Muslim faith, whom wear head coverings, would like to compete professionally in basketball without compromising their faith.
