There’s a new plan for paid maternity leave. Surprisingly it’s coming from the right. It’s being based in a similar fashion to the EIC tax credit. People making $28,000 a year or less would qualify for a maximum of $3,359 for 12 weeks leave. The US is the only country in the world that still lacks such a plan. The proposal is authored by Ben Gitis, and has the left calling it to weak and the far right calling it too much. It remains to be seen if it will have the strength to be a winner.
